Dr. Surendra Shah is a "Senior Consultant Gastrointestinal & Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic, Laparoscopic & Colorectal Surgeon; and trained Laser Proctologist". He is a excellent academician in the Patan Academy of Health Sciences and Unit Chief at Patan Hospital. He is also working in the Sumeru Hospital Dhapakhel-Lalitpur, Vayodha Hospital-Balkhu Chowk, and Norvic International Hospital, Thapathali, Kathmandu.

Experiences and Trainings


Dr. Shah has been practicing as a Doctor since 2003. He has achieved superspecialist degree (MCh) in Gastrointestinal (GI) and Hepato-Pancreatic-Biliary (HPB) surgery after Master in General Surgery (MS) With higher academic achievement and many high level national and international trainining, including fellowship in laparoscopic surgery (FMAS), training in laparoscopic hernia surgery (FALS-Hernia), training in Gastrointestinal, Liver, Biliary, Pancreatic Cancer Surgery from Tata Memorial Hospital-Mumbai, clinical observation for Gastric Cancer from SNUH-South Korea, training in Laser therapy (treatment) for Piles (hemorrhoids), fissures, anal fistulas, and pilonidal sinus. He is also a certified trainer for Laser Management in Proctology to train Surgeons.

He is excellent in the management of cancers and non-cancer illness related to Gastrointestinal and HBP systems which includes diseases of intestine (esophagus, stomach, small intestine. colon, rectum, anus), liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, pancreas and spleen.

He is well trained and experienced in treating hemorrhoids (piles), anal fissure, anal fistula and pilonidal sinus by cutting edge and advanced technique including Laser Therapy (treatment).

He is commonly performing many laparoscopic surgery for all hernia, gallbladder stones, acute appendicitis, Cancer of stomach, colon, rectum & gallbladder, as well as intestinal tumor, cystic diseases of liver, removal of spleen and others. He is the first surgeon in Nepal, who performed Laparoscopic Gastrectomy for gastric Cancer and presented in "International Conference of SSN.
